Why Teach?
I have wanted to become a teacher for as long as I can remember. I remember when I was in first grade I had a teacher named Ms. Erickson. It was her first year and she was new, fun, and pretty. Everyone wanted to be in her class. We had a class pet which was the cutest hamster named Alex, we did fun projects, and we were pen pals with her mom and dad. They would write us letters and she would exchange them for us, it was so much fun. Everyone has a favorite teacher, and mine is Ms. Erickson. Even after all these years I still remember her and the impact she had on my life. I hope and pray I can be that person to someone one day. I am also fascinated by kids, I work at a daycare and I love to see how their little minds work. I love the way their eyes light up when something clicks for them, or the way they interact with each other, and seeing them be kind and affectionate and forming bonds with one another. I know that teaching will make me the happiest person in the world, and the excitement I feel about being able to help shape this next generation is unmatched.
I would love to work with young children. Anywhere in between kinder and 2nd grade is what I am leaning towards right now. At that age kids minds are like sponges, soaking up information and learning so much! I think it will be a lot of fun to teach that age and see their improvement throughout the year, I will feel so fulfilled. I am so passionate about reading and found my love for books at a very young age and hope to help other children with those same interests. With that being said I would love to teach English or any Reading and Writing course.
About Me!
Hello! My name is Catarina Martinez and I am from Odem, Texas. It is an extremely small town right next to Corpus Christi. I am a junior at Texas State University and I enjoy reading books, working out, and trying new foods. I made it a goal for this year to read one book a month and I have been sticking to it! A few of my favorite reads include Where the Crawdads Sing, Normal People, and We Were Liars. I am very excited for this school year and cannot wait to expand my knowledge and create new friendships. I am looking forward to a great semester!
I, like you, am fascinated with observing children. They are so open and wonderful. The way the go through life is so interesting to try to understand. We have a lot in common because I like to teach literacy (reading and writing) the most.
ReplyDeleteI also had a couple of teachers that made a huge impact on my life. I remember loving their class and looking forward to the next day, and that is also how I hope see my class one day.
